Writing has always been a struggle. Not the serious stuff like reports and things – having spent several decades as a management consultant, I have that figured out. But the more interesting stuff. About what one sees or hears or feels or gets amused or angered or awestruck by. How I admire the scholarly writing of a Pratap Bhanu Mehta or a Ram Guha, the zany turn-of-phrase of the peerless PGW and our own Jug Suraiya and observant Santosh Desai, just to name a few!!
So when my daughter Avani, who has been writing for a while, decided to “go public”, I got motivated. She is better at it, though the perfectionist in her means that she spends a lot of time dotting the “i”s and crossing the “t”s. I have decided to do it differently. Write whatever comes to mind, give it a once-over to see that it is grammatically OK and sic it on (to use PGW’s phrase) the unsuspecting public! And await feedback…
So here goes, folks! as we southies say, Yenjoy!!
