Writing has always been a struggle. Not the serious stuff like reports and things – having spent several decades as a management consultant, I have that figured out. But the more interesting stuff. About what one sees or hears or feels or gets amused or angered or awestruck by. So, when my daughter Avani, who has been writing for a while, decided to “go public”, I got motivated. She is better at it, though the perfectionist in her means that she spends a lot of time dotting the “i”s and crossing the “t”s. I have decided to do it differently. Write whatever comes to mind, give it a once-over to see that it is grammatically OK and sic it on (to use PGW’s phrase) the unsuspecting public!
My blogs have ended up falling into a few types and I have categorised them here to make it easier for you, dear reader, to figure out what you want to read depending upon your mood. These types are:
- Delhi’s Underbelly: This is essentially some quirky things I notice around me. These are completely non-serious-attempting-to-be-funny posts requiring very little application of mind.
- Mind Matters is an attempt to articulate my views and reflections on various things that I wish to opine upon. While far from cerebral, they are non-frivolous thoughts and experiences which I want to share and which I invite you to comment on – even disagree!
- India Meets Bharat is a bit more serious and is meant to provide a glimpse of “Bharat” – the people whose daily struggles to exist really bother me on my forays into the world of the “other”. It may be of interest to the denizens of “India” – the more fortunate (dare I say privileged?) that I and many people I know are.
- The Business of Responsibility, which is mostly about the title of the only book I have written (I had added the word “Social” before Responsibility) on the role of business in society, is essentially about that – how I see the role of business in society and what business can do and is doing to change an essentially unjust world that is hurtling to self-destruction!
- TRevels, is revelling in travels of a different kind, something I have begun to do post retirement. It has been such fun that I decided that writing about it is the best way to remember it. And maybe it also provides some pointers to those who want to do likewise!?
